The poem is BOY DIGGING and the illustration is for a stanza in the poem ...
"A boy is digging deep
into the sand..."
This is one of the first poems I wrote on my morning walks. What really caught my eye at first was how he looked to be swallowed by the hole he was digging. Then it was the fact that his shirt matched the color of the beach blanket on the sand next to the hole.
Oh the times where all you had on your list of to do's was to play in the sand, digging holes and building sand castles!
